Heli-Skiing

Looking for a lift? Intermediate to advanced skiers wanting an unforgettable experience away from the crowds and lift lines would do well to check out helicopter-assisted skiing.

North Cascade Heli-Skiing, located in Mazama, Washington has a variety of downhill and Nordic ski packages available, designed with adventure in mind. They offer world class powder skiing on 300,000 square acres in the North Cascades, which has some of the most spectacular scenery and best skiing conditions known to man. North Cascade Heli-Skiing's permit on the Okanogan National Forest offers some 80 designated runs ranging from 1,500 to 4,000 vertical feet at altitudes of up to 9,000 foot.

Loup Loup Ski Bowl

The Loup Loup Ski Bowl is located between Twisp and Okanogan near the summit of the Loup Loup Pass. With a vertical drop of 1,200 feet there are six primary runs to choose from according to your ability. Skiers and snowboarders will be able to use the newly installed 4-person chair lift.

The main lodge provides a panoramic view of the ski runs and offers lunch at the snack bar or you can warm up and relax in front of the fireplace. The ticket office, ski patrol and ski rental shop are located in a building adjacent to the lodge. The Loup Loup Ski Bowl and the U.S. Forest Service work together to provide you quality recreation, so ski the Loup, just for fun!

For ski reports call (509) 826-2720. For equipment reservations call (509) 422-2776. Hours of operation are 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and all major holidays (except Christmas). The Loup Loup also offer prime groomed trails ranging from easy to most difficult that will take you amongst towering fir and fragrant pine trees. Trail passes for the North Summit system, located by the ski bowl can be purchased at the Loup's on-site ticket office.


Sitzmark Ski Area

The Sitzmark Ski area is located on Havillah road about 20 miles out of Tonasket, Washington. Sitzmark has a chair lift and a 660 vertical foot ski run with an elevation of 4,950 ft. The Sitzmark Ski area promotes good "family fun" with many family oriented events.

In mid to late February Sitzmark sponsors the Annual No-Alibi Fun Ski for the whole family and a Craz-zee Daze fun day. Days of operation are Thursday, weekends, and holidays. There is a lodge that offers delious meals, a rental shop, and a ski school program. Sitzmark offers seven new runs this year all with great views.

Sitzmark also has 3k of groomed trails at the area and 12k of groomed trails at Highland Son park three miles away. The Sitzmark area ski season runs from mid-December through mid-March. (Depending on snow fall) Snow report line is (509) 485-3323. Rental shop number is (509) 486-2700.

The North Cascades has some of the most spectacular scenery and best skiing and snowboarding conditions known to man.

Much of Warren Miller's recent film, RIDE, was filmed with North Cascade Heli-Skiing in this region.
